Meet Lisa Cox, D.A.For fourteen years, I have taught language (English and Spanish) to adult learners. I also served as an advisor, coordinator, and curriculum writer, and I have spent the greater half of my career at a community college in Louisville, Kentucky, teaching academic English to adult students from immigrant and refugee backgrounds.
I have a D.A. in English Pedagogy and an M.A. in TESOL from Murray State University. I also have an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Louisville. My research interests include students with limited or interrupted formal education, students with refugee backgrounds, adult literacy, and online teaching and learning. This website and the accompanying podcast aim to support second language (L2) composition teachers interested in evolving their understanding of literacy and developing effective pedagogical solutions in response. Teachers don't always have time to dig deep into academic research, so the podcast serves to summarize the scholarship on multimodality, multiliteracies, and other hot topics in literacy in a clear and entertaining format so that teachers can digest it quickly and then use it to transform their classrooms. |
